Boca Hoops Select Travel Program
The Boca Hoops Select travel program is a competitive basketball program focused on providing players with a platform to improve as individuals and compete as a team in tournaments throughout the southeast Florida area. While these teams compete at a higher competitive level than the recreational Boca Hoops season, the values that have made the Boca Hoops organization so successful are still prominent and instilled in each player. The ultimate goal is to improve skill levels, bring home trophies, and continue the love of the game of basketball.

The Season
The season typically extends from January through the beginning of June. Practices may start prior to January, based on gym availability and the approval of the coaching staff for each individual team. Practices will typically be held indoors and will include 2 weeknights and a Saturday each week. Practices are mandatory to keep the consistency and communication at its peak during the season with ALL players on the team. The practice schedules are currently being created.
Each team will play in approximately 8-10 tournaments during the season. Most tournaments will guarantee at least 3 games during each tournament, and they generally run from Friday evening through Sunday. The Boca Hoops Select tournament schedule will be selected by the coaching staff for each specific team. Most tournaments will be played throughout Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties – with the possibility of a state tournament at the end of the season.
The Team
The players selected to the team are chosen solely by the coaching staff of each Boca Hoops Select team. Each player must tryout – as no players are given preferential treatment, even if they played on the team in prior years. Tryouts for each team can start as early as October.
Playing time is NOT guaranteed. The coaching staff will make all decisions as to who will play during each game. Each player has the opportunity to earn court time through their dedication and hard work, but it is ultimately the coaches who will make the game time decisions for playing time.
The Coaches
The coaching staff for every team consists of volunteers. They are NOT paid coaches. They have chosen to dedicate their time for the players on their team. This is an incredible gesture by each coach, and we thank them for their time, dedication and expertise. We hope that all players and their families recognize and respect this commitment.
Cost
The cost to join the team will vary based on the talent and schedule for each team. This fee includes the player’s uniform, shooting shirt, practice jersey, backpack, all gyms for practice times, and all tournaments. There are additional fees including the entrance for family members to tournaments (approximately $10.00/day) – each tournament will ask for payment to enter the gyms. There is additional Boca Hoops gear that can be purchased for players and their family members at an additional cost.
